Obituary Pamela Muriel (Swinney) Hooker

Many are the women of proven worth, but you have excelled them all. Charm Is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.  Give her a reward of her labors, and let her works praise her at the city gates.

Proverbs 31:29-21

Pamela Muriel (Swinney) Hooker was born on October 4, 1951 at Columbia Hospital for Women, in Washington, D.C. She was the fourth of four children born to Carl and Annette Swinney. She was raised and educated in the D.C. Public School System, graduating from Roosevelt Senior High School in 1969. Throughout her life Pam had many friends as she enjoyed socializing with her peers and always cared about people.

After graduating from high school, Pam started working in the federal government as an administrator and later transitioned to Best TV, where she not only served as an administrator, but also participated in many of their TV commercials. Pam’s gifted skills as an administrator later landed her a position with Robert Johnson at BET as well as with Sheila Johnson at Salamander Farms Organization. Pam had the opportunity to travel throughout the world with Sheila Johnson meeting many well-known personalities. During the latter years of her life, Pam worked full time in the ministry with her husband, Pastor Frank Hooker, in their ministry known as, “Hear the Word Family Ministry International.” She also worked part-time with both of her daughters at Nicole’s business known as Nikki’s Christian Learning Center. In honor of their mom, Nicole and Nikea have named the business’ upcoming second location as, “Nikki’s Christian Learning Center—PAM’S PLACE.”

Pam married the love of her life, Frank Rupert Hooker on November 12, 1981. From this union was born two daughters, Nicole LaJuan Hooker and Nikea Marie Annette Hooker. Frank also had two eons, Frank Jr. and Sean, which completed Pam’s loving family. Pam was always her children and grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader, supporting Nikea on the road as she pursued her gospel singing career, Nicole and her daycare business, and all of her grandchildren’s sporting and fine arts events.

Pam’s life changing transformation in Jesus Christ deepened her desire to instill Christ In her children and grandchildren. She was a bold, outspoken witness for the Kingdom of God! Pam attended Jericho Bible College to gain a more in-depth study of God’s Word and to learn how to evangelize effectively to others. This empowered her to tell wayward teens, young single mothers, married couples, backsliders, and many others about the importance of being committed to Christ. She also had a healing ministry, where she would pray and lay hands on people to receive their healing and they would get healed. Pam loved God’s Word so much, she not only shared with whoever would listen, but also wore it In her jewelry, hats, and outfits. She was never ashamed to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. If anybody ever tried to give her any type of credit for how she blessed them, she would simply reply with her world famous saying—”TO GOD BE THE GLORY!”
