Obituary Letitia Sabrina Moore Mcilwain

 Letitia Sabrina Moore, the youngest child of Norma J. Moore and the late Staff Sargent Clarence W. Moore Jr. was born on December 8,1974 in Camp Springs Maryland.  At the age of 9, Letitia accepted Jesus as her Savior and became a member of Matthews Memorial Baptist Church and joined the Children of God Choir.

 

Letitia attended the public schools in the District and Maryland and graduated from Friendly High School in June, 1992.Letitia often said, "Mama I want to sing". And sing she did, at the ages of 14, l5 and l6 she entered and won many talent contests in DC and Maryland. With a manager guiding her she went to New York City and won 3 times at the Apollo. She also sang in a band with her brother Perry playing the guitar and together they made a record, but Tish as she wanted to called decided to stay in Church and sing Gospel music for the Lord.

 

On August 17,, 2006 she was married to Ricardo Mcilwain. Tish's first job was a nurse's aide at a Nursing Home in Forestville Md. There she was called the "Singing Nurse". In 2002, she began working for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing Office. Her other jobs included time at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, the Dept. of Agriculture and at the Federal Maritime Commission until in 2012 when she retired on disability.  Tish accepted her illness and never asked, "Lord, why me"?  At Matthews Tish attended Sunday School and Bible Study. She was a member of the blessed and highly favored praise team, the Voices of Christ Choir, the Women's Choir, the Combine Choir and the Unity Choir and a member of the Trustee Board.

 

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Ricardo Mcilwain, her children Leaunshae C. Carr, Antoine R. Moore and Andrew B. Hokett,2 step daughters, Kala Mcilwain and Zion Hawkins, her mother, Norma J. Moore, Mother-in-law, Rose Mcilwain; sisters Sharon Liddell, Sahon Moore and Terry Moore; brothers, Ricardo Moore (Annette) Gary L. Moore, Sr. (Freda), Perry W. Moore (Tonya), Anthony G. Moore and Clarence W. Moore III (Denita); aunts, Alfreda Gatlin, Mary-Wheeler Thomas, Doris Perry, Lois Moore, Janice Williams and Patience Catlin Robinson; uncles, Henry Thomas and Curtis Gatlin (Wynona) of Los Angels Ca; BFFs, Shanita Washington, Tonya Boyce and Ashia Dohawk; god mothers, Maria Pelham and Virginia Lewis,; her mentor Mrs. Ethel Botheul; god daughters, Amber K. Floyd, Chasity M. Kerrick, Dalea Baldwin and Micah Young and a host of nieces, nephews  and other friends.
