Obituary Elizabeth McCard Dent

Elizabeth McCard was born on the twenty-seventh day of February in 1919, to James and Frances McCard, in Washington, D. C. Elizabeth was the first daughter born into the family. She had an older brother Edgar McCard Later, more children were born, Sylvia, James Marshall McCard, Jr., Rena, and Annette.

Elizabeth was educated in the public schools of the District of Columbia. Elizabeth was very creative, she loved to sew and make her own clothes. It was a thrill for her to dress up and sit on the front porch as a young woman, greeting friends and family members at the family home. She enjoyed socializing adorned in her beauti I ouYlts and fine jewelry. She was an excellent cook who loved to prepare food at social gatherings for family members and friends,

 

Elizabeth and Ralph enjoyed many long years of marriage. They enjoyed many years traveling, visiting friends, entertaining and attending special events. Elizabeth loved life and her many family members and friends.  During the last five years of her life, she experienced failing health. Her devoted husband, Ralph, masterfully took over the job as her caretaker. With love, patience, and much devotion, he cared for Elizabeth as his most precious jewel. In Elizabeth's final days and hours, her eyes sparkled, and her face glowed whenever her husbant4 Ralph came into her presence. She loved, adored, depended on, and appreciated him greatly.  Elizabeth, we will miss your gentle voice, loving smile, and caring ways. Most of all, we will miss hearing your soft sweet voice. May you rest in peace. 

 

Elizabeth McCard Dent is survived by her husband, Ralph Dent; step-daughter, Billie Jean Armstrong; one brother, Edgar McCard; two sisters, Sylvia Reed, and Annette Swinney; one sister-in-law, Felonise Fuller; three brothers-in-law, Alger Reed, Carl L. Swinney, Senior, and Jeff Fuller; her first cousins, Lanita Odom, Elaine Chiles, Delores Scott, John (Johnny) Harris, and Lawrence (Larry) Harris; devoted cousins, Mr. & Mrs. Cortez Howard and Mr. & Mrs. Courtney Saunders; nine nieces, seven nephews; and two devoted friends, Mildred Stevenson, of Washington, D.C., and Judy Gold of Rockville, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
