Obituary Charles Henry Dalton

Charles Henry Dalton, son of the late Earnest Dalton and Mary Chiles Dalton, was born on Jan. 13, 1937, in Waynesville, N.C.  After the passing of his mother at the age of 2, he went to live with his Aunt Ethel who raised him and his 3 sisters as her son and daughters.

 

He completed his secondary education at Reynolds High School in Waynesville, N.C. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree at North Carolina State College in Durham, N. C.

After moving to New York in 1961, his first job was for New York City's Youth Board where he was a field Supervisor. From there he went to the N.Y. State Division and became a Narcotic Parole Officer. He held this job until his death.

 

Charles was a very loving and affectionate person. Because of his pleasant and joyful personality he made many friends. He was often called upon for help. He was never too busy or too tired to lend a hand. Even in his illness he was never too tired to visit his friends. He gained the admiration and respect of all those who knew him.  For many years Charles was a fraternal brother of the Masons., In the last few years he found it necessary to became inactive.

 

Following a long illness which was known to many, Charles closed his eyes in peaceful slumber, departing this earth in the early morning of October 3, 1985. We shall truly miss Charles or Butch as he was known to many for his cheerfulness and good nature. We will always hear his hearty laughter. He leaves to cherish his memories a loyal, loving and devoted wife, Jean, two devoted sons, Charles Henry Dalton Jr. and Derrick Dalton and a loving daughter Michelle Dalton Two loving sisters, Ernestine Pleasant of Baltimore, MD., Maryland Dalton of Waynesville, N.C. a Grand Mother Essie Covington of Wash. D.C. Two uncles, San Chiles and James Chiles of Wash. D.C. two Aunts Lorraine Bouknight of Waynesville, N.C. and Ethel Erwin of Wash. D.C. a very devoted cousin Henry Dalton of Waynesville, N.C. Loving nieces, Shirley, Lynette, Lee, Terry, Cheryl and Tara, Devoted nephews, Bobby, David, Timothy, Lester and John and a host of loving cousins and friends.
