Algia J. Reed, was born on October 3, 1914 to the late Isiah B. Reed and Algie Reed in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He went through an open door of peace and rest on October 28, 2007 at Washington Adventist Hospital.

He was educated in Mississippi, also attending Tuskegee Institute for one semester. In January 1941, he entered the United States Air Force and departed in January 1946.

He moved to Washington, D.C. and married Sylvia McCard. This union lasted over 50 years. He spent much time playing, enjoying and working. The last three weeks of his life was spent at Heartland Health Center with Sylvia his wife, who he loved very much.

Algia leaves to mourn his loving wife, Sylvia; one brother, James Reed; one sister, Juanita Johnson; brother-in-law, Carl Swinney; sister-in-law, Annette Swinney; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend, Michael and Teresa Armstrong.
