William Arthur Sutton
Sr. age 53 went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 11, 2007. He
was one of seven siblings Born to the late Zeb and Pearl Sutton. William
was preceded in death by two brothers, Zeb M. Sutton, Jr. and Walter C.
Sutton. He was so loved by many and was fondly known as Ossie, Mr. Sutton, William and Daddy.
William received his education in the Richmond Public Schools. After
completion of Armstrong High School in 1972 he later began working for
William Byrd Press (Cadmus/Cenveo). He worked his way through the ranks
where he began as a web trainee. He retired as a Press supervisor after
twenty excellent years of service. As a self made entrepreneur, he pursued
his passion for painting following his retirement. His company was known as
the wonderful Sutton and Sons Painting. He did most business as residential
work throughout the greater Richmond area. He worked hard and dedicated
himself to his love of painting for twelve years. Among his comedy crew of
workers included sons, William Jr. and Keith, family members and devoted
friends.William has been a loving member of First Baptist Church of South
Richmond, since he joined, January 19, 2003. He served with two exciting
ministries, Joshua's Army a Leadership Development Ministry and Partners in
Purpose, a mentoring ministry which serves new members as they begin their
walk with the Lord. William loved to sing along with the church choir and
attended bible study and Sunday morning worship on a regular basis. When
his health prevented him from attending service he would watch First
Baptist on television. In addition
to church William loved to be around family and friends, relaxing, taking
cruises, dining out, sightseeing and enjoying each day of life. William was
the father of two sons, whom he was so proud of and loved dearly. To many
he was a great brother, uncle, friend, and role model. He always tried to
help out anyone to the best of his ability, and made sure people he loved
were taken care of. He will be greatly missed and that loud voice will
never be forgotten, not to mention his unique whistle, known to many. He
will be greatly remembered by all who knew him. William leaves to cherish
his memories, two sons William A Sutton Jr. (Ann) and Keith L Sutton; five
sisters, Esther Peebles (Richard); Alfreda Green (Harold); Frances Tucker
(Mareellus); Malinda Stokes (James); and Barbara Pennington; mother of his
children and ex-wife, Gayle C. Sutton; great aunt, Gracie Ratliff, niece
and dear friend Tamara Green; a host of nieces and nephews, devoted
friends, Sylvester Johnson, Ronald West, Keith Smith, Larry Thompson, and
many other relatives, friends and customers.
