Mr. Sherman Pulley,
son of the late Samuel Pulley and Mary Wilkins Pulley was born October 9,
1919 in Nash County, N.C. After a brief illness, he departed this life at
Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, N.C. on Monday, November 25, 1991. After serving honorably in the U.S.
Army, he married the former Olovie Adams. To this union, six children were
born. One child, Barbara, preceded him in death. He attended Young Farmers Veterans
Classes for four years and was a model farmer in Nash County. At an early
age, he gave his life to Christ. In 1977, he was ordained a Deacon at the
Jones Hill Baptist Church, where he also served as Assistant Superintendent
of Sunday School. He was a loving and kind husband and father. He leaves to
cherish his memories: his wife, Olovie Adams Pulley; one daughter, Pamela
Olivia of Raleigh; four sons, Sherman Carroll of Seat Pleasant, Md.,
Burnell Wallace of Newport News, Va., Jeffrey Edward of Zebulon and-
Chester Wayne of Washington, D.C.; one brother, William McKinley Pulley of
Middlesex; three sisters, Dera Rogers of Wendell, Susie Cordell of Rocky
Mount and Octavia Dunn of Middlesex; eight grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends. In fears we saw you sinking and watched you
fade a way. Our hearts were almost broken, we wanted you to stay. But when
we saw you sleeping, so peaceful free from pain, How could we wish you back
with us, to suffer that again. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did
not go alone For part of us went with you, the day God took you home. The
