A Time to be Born
Pauline Elizabeth Cooley Hines, daughter of the late Walter Cooley and
Aileen Thorpe Cooley, was born November 23, 1926 in Wendell, NC.
A Time to Unite: Pauline was married to the late James Hines for over 40 years. Between this
union, together they raised four boys, Walter Mayo, Sr., Walter Mayo Hines,
Jr., James Paul Hines, Edward Owens High, and one girl, Geraldine Williams.
A Time to Labor: Pauline was a loving, kind, devoted mother; she was
loved and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She started
working for St. August Hospital, Raleigh, NC, and for 28 years, she worked
for Strickland Cleaners, Wendell, NC. Then she went to work at Wake Medical
Center,, Raleigh, NC. After her retirement, she enjoyed taking care of her
family, cooking, sewing, canning vegetables, fruits, jelly, and making
homemade ice cream.
A Time to Worship: Pauline accepted Christ as her personal savior at a
very early age. She joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Wendell, NC where
she enjoyed working on the Usher Board, attending the Lucy Morgan Sunday
School Class, B.T.U. and the school P.T.A.
A Time to Say Farewell: On June 12, 20 10 at 9:30 a.m., at Guardian
Care Rest Home, Zebulon, NC she departed her earthly life. She heard the
voice of Jesus say "Come, come unto me and rest, lie down thy weary
one, lie down thy head upon thy breast. She obeyed the Saviors command.
Preceding her in death was her husband James H. Hines, a son, Walter Mayo,
Sr., a brother Billy D. Merritt, a sister Nannie B. Williams, and grandson
Brandon Hinton.
A Time to Mourn Her passing has left a deep
loss in the hearts of her family, friends, neighbors and to all who knew
and loved her. She leaves to cherish heart felt memories, two sons,, James
Paul Hines (Nenita) Greensboro, NC, Walter Mayo Hines, Jr. (Home) Wendell,
NC; one sister, Geraldine Williams (Harold) Wendell, NC; a sister she
considers her daughter. Two brothers, Leo Merritt (Willie Mae) Wendell, NC,
Alexander Teasley, Wake Forest, NC; two aunts, Margaret Baines, Wendell,
NC, Lela Holloway, Raleigh, NC ten grandchildren, Yvette Sharp, Marcus
Mayo, Tonya Carrington, Dionne Hines, Erick Mayo, Kelly Russell, Pauline
High, Cynthia High, Truster Hinton, Crystal Hinton eighteen
greatgrandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a special cousin,
Cassandra Barnes.
