Peter Paul Thorpe was born May 8, 1910 in Wake County, North Carolina to the late Peter and Betty Adams Thorpe. He departed this life on November 8, 1989 at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh, North Carolina. He joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He was loved and respected in his community. Everyone who knew him closely referred to him as their "granddaddy". If you needed a friend or some one when you were in trouble, you could depend on him. His formal education was received in the Wake County School System. He was a farmer for forty years. After working at Meredith College for a number of years, he retired.   fie was united in Holy Matrimony to Annie Bell Giles Thorpe, who preceded him in death. To this union eleven children were born. He was a loving and dedicated father to his family and ail that knew him. His survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Jones of Wendell, Mrs. Maggie Walton and Mrs. Mary Sutton of Zebulon, and Mrs. Flora O'Neal of Landover, Maryland; two sons, Randolph Thorpe of Temple Hills, Md. and Robert Thorpe of Wendell; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Johns of Philadelphia, Pa. and Mrs. Alberto Williams of Wendell; 3 sons-in-law, James Walton, Columbus Sutton and Willie O'Neal all of Zebulon; 4 daughters-in-law, Mrs. Marion Thorpe, Mrs. Christine. Thorpe, Mrs. Irene Thorpe, and Mrs. Betty Lee Thorpe; 2 nephews, Leo Merritt and Alexander Teasley; 3 nieces, Pauline Hines, Nannie Williams and Geraldine Williams; 39 grandchildren; 71 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
