Mrs. Mattie Sutton
Fletcher, daughter of Ms. Ida P. Sutton and the late Zeb Vance Sutton was
born on February 8, 1937 in Warren County North Carolina and departed this
life Monday, March 10, 1997 in Durham General Hospital, Durham North
Carolina. She graduated from Warren County training school Wise, North
Carolina in 1955. She joined Ashley
Chapel Baptist Church at an early age and after moving to Jacksonville
Florida she joined Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church where she remained a
member until her death she was employed as a nurse by numerous hospitals
and nursing homes in several states.
She also did private duty nursing. In 1956
she was married Will R. Fletcher and to this union five children were born.
She is survived by: her husband, Will R. Fletcher
of the home; two daughters, Marian P. Fletcher and Anita Fletcher, both of
Jacksonville Florida; three sons Larry Fletcher of Portland Maine, Dexter
L. Fletcher and Raymond A. Fletcher both of Jacksonville Florida her
mother, Mrs. Ida P. Sutton of Vaughan North Carolina six brothers Stuart K.
Sutton of Rhode Island, Walter Palmer Brown of Baltimore Maryland, Robert
Sutton of Vaughan North Carolina, Harry Sutton of Orange, New Jersey,
Clemons Sutton of Vaughan North Carolina and Steven B. Sutton of Durham
North Carolina; six grandchildren two great grandchildren three aunts Mrs.
Vergie Johnson, Mrs. Leonia Alston and Mrs. Margaret Yancey all of
Baltimore Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and
friends.
