Obituary Marie O’Neal Adams |
Marie O’Neal Adams was born on November 22, 1926 in Johnston County, North Carolina to the late Odie E. O'Neal and Nova Mae Wiggins O'Neal.
Marie attended and graduated from Richard B. Harrison High School in Selma, North Carolina. At an early age Marie joined the White Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she held many offices; to name a few - Sunday School Teacher, Missionary Circle and Founder of Full Gospel Rally. Marie loved to sing and did so from an early age. In her older years, Marie joined the Senior Choir where she was often called on to lead and she did it to the Glory of God. Marie worked at several jobs during her lifetime. Her main job was farming and in the off-season she did factory work.
At age 19, Marie married William Weldon "Buck" Adams, and to this union they were blessed with eight children and a beloved stepdaughter; Mary Baldwin (Charles). Preceding her journey was: her husband, (Buck); daughter, Marjorie Ellis; son, Leroy Adams; and grandson, Ricky Adams.
Marie loved her church family and hardly let a day pass without either talking to or mentioning her good friends, Mother Sadie Hocutt or Mother Pete Barnes, who shared Marie's love of flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, and fishing. Marie loved deep sea fishing and her flower gardens were most impressive. Marie would say, "I’m Blessed and Highly Favored".
Marie leaves to cherish her memories: one son, James "Bone" Adams (Beatrice); five daughters, Linda Frederick (Jerome), Ernestine Owen (Donald), Catherine Mann, Nena Jackson (Jimmy) and Nova Lisa English (LeRoy). |
