Hezikiah G. Peace, the
beloved son of Lewis and Susie Peace, departed this life on Friday, January
31, 1992 at 4 a.m. in Brooklyn, New York..
Hezikiah was born in Oxford, North
Carolina on May 10, 1916. He received his formal education in Oxford, North
Carolina. He later met and married Gladys Vick and out of this union came
three sons and one daughter, Lucious Peace,
Shirley Jean Peace, Richard M. Peace and Abdul Rahman Abdullah.
Hezikiah joined the United States
Army in the year of 1941, and served his country for four years. After an
honorable release from the Armed Services, he migrated to New York City.
While in New York City, he met and married Gladys Hunt in April of 1960.
After working at various jobs throughout New York, he founded and
operated the Peace Trucking Company until his retirement in 1976. He
accepted Christ in his life and was baptized in March of 1990.
He leaves to mourn his loving memory: a loving and devoted wife, Gladys
Peace; three sons, Lucious Peace, Richard M.
Peace and Abdul Rahman Abdullah; one daughter-in-law, Grenda
Peace; ten grandchildren and eleven greatgrandchildren; three brothers,
Albert Peace, Bobby Peace and Johnny Peace, all of Newark, New Jersey; six
sisters, Dora Wortham. of Kittrell, North
Carolina, Bertha Hatchett of Staten Island, New York, Helen Jones of
Newark, New Jersey, Inez Brame of Bronx, New
York, Norma Loving of Bronx, New York and Voydeen
Fuller of Winston Salem, North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, James Jones
and W'ilmore Wortham; one aunt, Annabell Taylor of Raleigh, North Carolina; and a host
of other relatives and friends.
