George McKinley Adams, For over two decades, George worked in the pulpwood and logging business. Despite injuries and illness, he continued to work up until the day before his death.George was a member of Stokes Chapel Baptist Church in Middlesex, N. C. for over 40 years. He served as an active member of the Youth Department as well as assisted in other areas of the church such as BTU, Missionary, and Hospitality. He was affectionately know as "Uncle George". He also was involved in other baseball activities in the community. He received his education from James E. Shephard High School in Zebulon and was a strong advocate of higher education for young people. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Shirley Lorraine Meeks for 28 years. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, uncle and friend who gave generously to all those in need.

 

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Shirley Lorraine Meeks Adams; 5 children: Bettina Laraine Adams of Clayton, N.C.; George McKinley Adams, Jr. of Carrboro, N.C.; Ruth Adams Webb of Zebulon, N.C.; PFC Craig Leander Adams, US Army - Germany; and Bruce Kendale Adams of the home; his parents, George and Ruth Guerrant of Philadelphia Pa.; his father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Meeks of Middlesex, N.C.; his daughter-in-law, Lanita Harris Adams of Carrboro, N.C.; his soon-to-be son-in-law, Lee Anthony Melvin of Clayton, N.C.; one great aunt, Anna Belle Taylor, Raleigh, N.C. four aunts, Mrs. Aldonia Pace of Wendell, N.C.; Mrs. lantha Harris of Baltimore, Md, Mrs. Olovia Pulley of Spring Hope, N.C. and Mrs. Bettie E. Brown of Zebulon, N.C.; one uncle Mr. George Adams of Philadelphia, Pa.; five sisters, Bettye Holden, Wendell, N.C., Florene Dusty, Maritz, Md, Angelene Yelverton, Zebulon, N.C., Sophia Beaman, Randallstown, Md, Suzette Chiles, Mitchellville, Md; six brothers, Gustiegall Guerrant of Philadelphia, Pa., Anthony Brown, Zebulon, N.C., Percy Brown, Jr., Raleigh, N.C., Johnny Brown, Zebulon, N.C., Ted Brown, Maryland, Charles Brown, Zebulon, N.C.; four grandchildren, Miss Rachena Shamarr Webb, Master George McKinley Adams lll, Master Garry Bernard Webb, Jr. and Master Deshon Akeem Wise-Adams; and a many other family members and friends.
