Dusty
On Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at Washington Hospital Center, Florene H
Dusty went home to be with the Lord. Florene was born March 10, 1939, to
Iantha High in -Wake County, North Carolina.
At an early age, Florene was baptized at Stokes Chapel Baptist Church.
She graduated for James E. Shephard High School in 1956. After high school
Florene education at North Carolina, Central in Durham, N.C. where she
received her BA in Library Science. After college, Florene moved to
Washington, D.C. where she pursued a career with the Library of Congress.
Florene worked there for 37 years.
Florene was a people person. She found much enjoyment in entertaining
her family and friends. She Loved to cook. There was never an experiment
that went bad. She had a flair for clothes and loved to shop. She was also
an avid reader and many times could be found curled up with a book. And
never far from, her was her shadow, Shana.
Florene is survived by her two sons, Steven Brown and Daniel Dusty; two
grand children, Shane and Daniel Hargrove; her
mother, Iantha Harris; sisters Dorothy Harris, Linda Adams, Valerie Mack,
Suzette Chiles, and Bettye Holden; brothers David Harris, Joe Harris, Percy
Brown, Jr., Earl Brown, and Anthony Brown; a host of in-laws, nieces,
nephews and friends.
Florene goes to rest with her two sisters, Sophie Beaman, Ruth Angeline
Brown and brother Charles Brown.
