Mr. Billy Douglas
Merritt, the son of the late Aline and Stephen Merritt, was born in Wake
county, North Carolina on September 22, 1935. He departed this life January
28, 1976 at his home.
At an early age, he joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he
attended Sunday School and church. He was an active member of the Senior
Usher Board and was presently serving as Vice President.
He was a loving and devoted husband, and also
a wonderful neighbor, who was willing to share and help anyone in his
community and on the job anytime. He will be greatly missed by all.
He leaves to mourn: a wife, Mrs. Geraldine Austin Merritt; a son,
Emmanuel Pace of Wendell; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Hines, Mrs. Geraldine
Williams both of Wendell and Mrs. Nannie B. Williams of Washington, D. C.;
two brothers, Leo Merritt of Wendell and Alexander Teasley of Washington,
D. C.; five aunts, Mrs. Mary T. Johns of Philadelphia, Penn., Mrs. Agnes
Burnette and Mrs. Aldonia Todd both of Zebulon,
Mrs. Viola Watson, Mrs. Eula Winston and Mrs. Alberta Williams all of
Wendell; two uncles, Paul Thorpe of Wendell and Cary Merritt of New York;
four nieces; five nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.
