LIFE REFLECTIONS
Rush Lloyd Beaman was born to the late Alphonso, Jr. and Mary (Moody)
Beaman on April 5, 1940 in Washington, DC. He passed away on May 7, 2013 at
Northwest Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
Lloyd, as he was affectionately known, was the youngest of six
siblings, four of whom preceded him in death: Mary, Mildred, Paul and
Alphonso, III. He was educated in the Washington, DC public school system.
Lloyd graduated from Cardozo High School. After working in various job
capacities in Washington, DC he relocated to Baltimore, Maryland.
In time, he received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science
degrees in Education at Coppin State University. In 1990, he was accepted
into the Doctoral Program at Howard University.
On February 26, 1972, he married the late Sophie Ann Brown. From that
union one child was born, Paul Lloyd Beaman. He and Sophie joined Leaden
Hall Baptist Church where they were long time members, holding many offices
within the church. In 1997 , Lloyd retired from
teaching in the Baltimore City Public School System after 30 years of
service. After retirement he started a limousine
company, Beaman and Beaman. He enjoyed gardening, driving for Meals on
Wheels, working in the church and being president of the Neighborhood
Watch. Lloyd enjoyed traveling the world, eating crabs with his family and
friends, entertaining and cooking steaks on the grill. He especially loved
spending time with his grandkids.
He often Save help and advice to all who knew him and was especially
fond of taking care of his late aunt (Ida Brinkley's) best friend Henrietta
McDonald (Sister) who is considered family.
An avid history buff, Lloyd joined a genealogy club in Maryland where
he would start researching his family roots which led to him writing the
first book on the History of the Beaman Family.
Always serving the Lord and putting God first, Sunday mornings were
special for Lloyd. He became a member of the New Shiloh Baptist Church and
he looked forward to hearing the dynamic word of Pastor Dr. Harold Carter.
He leaves to cherish in his memory: his only son, Paul Beaman;
daughter-in-law, Keontay Beaman; one grandson, Kole Beaman; one granddaughter, Solae Beaman; one
brother, Earl Beaman; one sister-in-law, Delores (Lois) Beaman; a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
