Mrs. Annie Bell Giles
Thorpe was born February 6, 1909 in Winnsboro, South Carolina. She departed
this life September 8, 1978 at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh, N. C. She joined the Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church in 1932, where she remained a faithful member as long as her health would allow her. On October 6,
1928, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Peter Paul Thorpe. To this union
twelve children were born. She was
a loving, faithful wife and mother; a friend to all who knew her.Those left to mourn are: her husband, Mr. Peter
Paul Thorpe; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Jones of Wendell; Mrs. Maggie
Retha Walton and Mrs. Mary Ellen Sutton both of Zebulon, Mrs. Flora Ann
O'Neal of Maryland and Mrs. Betty Jo O'Neal of the home; four sons, Peter
Paul Thorpe Jr. of Washington, D. C., Wallace Randolph Thorpe of Maryland,
William Henry and Robert Earl Thorpe both of Wendel.l;
four daughters-in-law, Mrs. Christine, Marion, Irene and Betty Jean Thorpe;
three sons-in-law, James Walton, Columbus Sutton and Wflue
O'Neal; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary Johns and Mrs. Alberta Williams;
thirty grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a host of other
relatives and friends.
